Worksite assessments help clinicians and employers determine what kind of support an employee may need when returning to work following an illness or injury.
During a worksite assessment, a medical professional examines the patient’s work environment and identifies any physical, cognitive, or social barriers that might prevent the patient from successfully doing their job. Then, the patient is interviewed about their symptoms, medical history, and workplace-related concerns. Based on their findings, the examining clinician will make recommendations for temporary or permanent job accommodations, assistive technology, ergonomic adaptations, and other adjustments, as needed.
